Opposition PG leader's case terminated by Prosecutor General's office
Solih was arrested at the opposition rally on the 16th of March, at the Republican Square
He was released from police custody without being presented at court
Solih was arrested under the State of Emergency and remanded for nine days

The Prosecutor General's office has decided to terminate the case of Main Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Parliamentary Group leader and Member of Parliament for Hinnavaru constituency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The case against Solih was sent for Prosecution by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in mid-March following the charges raised against him under sections 532 and 533 of the Maldives Penal Code, which are for resisting or obstructing a law enforcement officer or Custodial Officer and obstructing administration of law or other government function respectively, after being arrested under the State of Emergency at the largest anti-government rally seen since May Day 2015, near the high security Republic Square zone after protestors had poured onto the streets of capital Male' City calling for the resignation of President Yameen on the 16th of March, Friday.

Solih had since been released later in March after a nine day remand issued on him by the Criminal Court expired. He was released without being presented to court.

MPS speaking to some media outlets had said that the PG office had decided to terminate the charges raised against the parliamentarian.
