MP Ilham's family expresses pride in 'sacrifices he is making for the nation'

Detained Dhangethi constituency lawmaker Ilham Ahmed’s family has released a statement commending him for the courage he shows in remaining steadfast with the opposition.
In a statement to mark a hundred days since his incarceration, the lawmaker’s wife Aiminath Masha said that the politically motivated charges against him have been a point of tremendous pain for the family.
The lawmaker is accused of conspiring to overthrow embattled President Abdulla Yameen by colluding with other members of parliament.
Prosecutors have accused the lawmaker of accepting bribes and having been party to the conspiracy, which they say was conceived by opposition lawmaker MP Faris Maumoon.
