Largest opposition party Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has shared their manifesto for the 2018 Presidential Elections with the party's National Congress.

MDP's parliamentary group's leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu), as well as several other members from the party's National Congress attended the event held at Salt Cafe' on Monday.

While MDP's manifesto is being drafted, Former President Mohamed Nasheed has announced his manifesto under the 'Jazeera Raees' campaign launched for the party's primary election. In the statement released on MDP's anniversary, the former president has said that he recommended sharing an early draft of the party's manifesto with the national congress members.

Furthermore in reference to the lessons he has learned over the past years, President Nasheed said that Maldives which is an island nation with a vast sea area, has the same economic capability as countries with more land area. He added that the Maldivian economy comes from the rich seas.

President Nasheed has released 'Maakanduge Biya Raajje' and 'Nu Iqthisoadhu' under his manifesto so far.

Since the manifestos compiled by MDP for the election in 2008 as well as 2013 included five promises, MDP has announced that the one for 2018 will also consist of five promises.

Furthermore MDP stated that there are many aspects in the manifesto to fulfilled the five promises and that the party will work on finalizing the manifesto at the National Congress meeting to be held in September.
