Power Outages
Meedhoo residents facing continuing power outages
Fenaka Corporation has informed them that they are working to resolve the matter
Residents are experiencing several hardships due to increasing outages especially since the fasting month of Ramadan has begun
A number of the outlying atolls have been facing constant power outages recently

Residents to Meedhoo island of Dhaalu atoll have been facing power outages recently, which is reported to have gotten worse since Tuesday.

Speaking to RaajjeMV on the matter, Meedho Council chief Iyas Ismail Latheef, said that while it 'has been a few days since the island has been experiencing power outages', adding that it has become 'more frequent' since Tuesday.

Iyas said that the power outages are due to the repairment work of a faulty generator, and that the small generator currently being used 'does not have the capacity to generate electricity to the whole island'.

Noting that there have been complaints over the matter, the council president added that power outages during the month of Ramadan will make it very difficult for the residents of the island.

Iyas also ghlighted that Fenaka Corporation has informed them that they are working to resolve the matter.

The population of Meedhoo is 1,410, however, about a 1,000 residents currently reside in the island.
