President Yameen calls to 'make the best of Ramadan', in recycled 'special' message
He noted that Ramadan ‘comes with the opportunity to engage in our beliefs and spirituality’
His message highlighted the revelation of the Holy Quran during Ramadan
Maldives is one of the very few countries to start Ramadan on May 16, with countries such as Saudi Arabia announcing Thursday to be the first day of the Holy month

As Ramadan 1439 begins on Wednesday in the Maldives, President Abdulla Yameen sent out a recycled ‘special’ message to his people.

In his special message to mark the beginning of Ramadan 1439, President Yameen called on the people ‘to make the best of the Holy month’, adding ‘it comes with the opportunity to engage in our beliefs and spirituality’.

Noting that the revelation of the Holy Quran took place during the month of Ramadan, President Yameen said that 'thus it is essential to engage in good deeds, timely prayers and renew the passion of reciting the Holy Quran’.

He further appealed to the people ‘to be steadfast in holding on to the Islamic manners and practices’.

The president also extended his greetings to the people, and highlighted that ‘it is a true blessing to witness the Holy month’.
