A man convict who had been sentenced to nine months and eighteen days in prison has been found hanged in Maabaidhoo island of Laamu Atoll.
The island’s local government council said that they believe the 31-year-old had taken his own life. He was under custody of the council until transfer to the Maldives Correctional Service.
The man’s body was discovered near a fish plant in the southern region of the island.
