A 21-year-old has drowned in Hulhumalé's swimming area on Wednesday.

Police have confirmed the matter to RaajjeMV.

Noting that they received the news of an individual being taken to the hospital due to a drowning incident was reported to them at around 6:18 pm, police said that he was pronounced dead on arrival at the Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumalé.

Police also revealed that the deceased to be of 21 years of age.

RaajjeMV understands that the deceased is Hussain Riyad from Meedhoo island in Dhaalu atoll.
