Rescue officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has helped transfer a sickly Sri Lankan fisherman, to Kulhudhuffushi for medical treatment.

According to MNDF, while the vessel- Veron Putha 02- was located outside Maldivian territory, the Coastguard’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) had received a report from the Sri Lankan Navy Headquarters on Saturday afternoon.

It added that the northen area squadron was immediately dispatched to the area, along with a team of doctors from the Kulhudhuffushi Hospital.

They were able to transfer the 47-year-old Sri Lankan citizen to Kulhudhuffushi at around 10:30 am on Sunday.
