The Criminal Court has cancelled Sunday’s hearing over journalist Ahmed Rilwan’s abduction after prosecutors failed to produce witnesses.

The court is trying Aalif Rauf and Mohamed Nooredeen. Aalif is accused of using a car registered to his name in abducting Rilwan, and Nooredeen is charged with being an accomplice to this.

Hearings in the case have previously been cancelled due to the prosecutors’ failure to produce witnesses in court.

Rilwan has been missing since August of 2014 and was last seen boarding a ferry to Hulhumalé. The police only able to confirm that Rilwan was abducted, and not missing, two years after.

A witness that testified in the ongoing trial has attested to sitting beside him in said ferry, though could not confirm whether he alit.
