The Maldives Correctional Services has yet to provide Mohamed Nadheem, former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s jailed son-in-law, with a mattress to sleep on.
Nadheem’s lawyer, Mahfooz Saeed, said in a post on his Twitter account that the Maldives Correctional Services is yet to provide him with a mattress after his transfer from one detention facility to the other.
My client @MNadhym is not provided a mattress since he was transferred to Maafushi Prison. While in Dhoonidhoo detention, he was provided one after being instructed by the Doctor. His medical condition remains same. He should be provided a mattress immediately. pic.twitter.com/953pUVlUjO

In his tweet, Mahfooz attaches two letters he sent to the Maldives Correctional Services conveying to them that Nadheem has been asked to sleep on a mattress due to his health.
Nadheem sought medical treatment on March 24th, after experiencing numbness in his limbs, and the doctor that saw him while at Dhoonidhoo island had asked that he sleep on a mattress.
Nadheem, who is facing allegations of conspiring to overthrow the government along with his father-in-law Maumoon, has been remanded until sentencing
