MP Sinan to be presented to court for remand hearing
The hearing is scheduled for 1:30pm on Sunday
Sinan has been in police custody since February 9
Police has put forth terrorism charges against the lawmaker

A remand hearing for South-Mahchangoalhi constituency MP Abdulla Sinan has been scheduled for Sunday, at the Criminal Court.

The hearing is scheduled for 1:30pm. The Criminal Court had scheduled a remand hearing for the lawmaker on March 29 as well, but was cancelled without a reason.

He was issued a 15-day remand on March 18. Sinan has been in police custody since February 9, after turning himself over the police, who had launched a manhunt against him. As he was arrested under the state of emergency, he was informed of his allegations 35 days later, on March 17.

While he was initially accused of being actively involved in what the government has described as a conspiracy to overthrow the government and of bribery for this purpose, police have since put forth terrorism charges against the lawmaker.

He is one of the five lawmakers accused of terrorism.
