The requirement for High Court justices to receive Supreme Court approval to go on vacation has been annulled.
The annulment came in a letter issued by the Supreme Court on Sunday.
The Supreme Court in 2016 announced that judges from all Maldivian courts can take vacation breaks only after attaining the Supreme Court's approval.
In the notice issued on Sunday, the Supreme Court wrote that the only ones who will further need its approval for vacation are High Court judges and magistrates of the Judicial Administration.
Other judges will receive vacation approval from their chief justices and magistrates will be granted vacation from senior magistrates of the Judicial Administration.
