President sends felicitations on Bangladesh Independence day
Bangladesh celebrates this national holiday annually on the 26th of March since the declaration of Bangladesh
The President noted that he hopes the bonds between both countries will continue to flourish in the coming years
The President further highlighted that the longstanding socio-economic and cultural ties between both countries are based on mutual respect and close interactions

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent felicitations to Bangladeshi President M.D. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed on Bangladesh's 47th Independence day on the 26th of March,

The President's office stated that the seperate messages sent to PM Wazed and President Hamid highlights the longstanding bilateral ties between both countries adding that both countries have developed perpetual socio-economic and cultural ties based on mutual respect and close interactions.

Furthermore, the President noted that he hopes the bonds between both countries will continue to flourish in the coming years, giving his full cooperation in ensuring their bonds remain strong.

Bangladesh celebrates this national holiday on the 26th of March, since the declaration of Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan on 25th March 1971 by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who won Pakistan's general election in 1970.
