Parliament member for Hinnavaru constituency, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's lawyer Nazim Sattar has revealed that he is not being treated accordingly in prison.
MP Solih was arrested under the SoE decree, near the Republic Square at the mass anti-government rally held on 16th March, Friday, where protesters poured onto the streets of the capital city to call for the resignation of President Yameen.
While he has been in Dhoonidhoo island prison since, Nazim Abdul Sattar revealed on twitter on Thursday that a fan has been installed in Solih's cell but it had been positioned in such a way that it cools the opposite wall and not the bed.
My client @ibusolih told me in dhoonidhoo yesterday that they have installed a wall fan on his cell but that the fan only fans the opposite wall and not the bed. This is deliberate conceit by police. Dear @PoliceMv wallfan does not mean it has to fan the wall!!!

Tagging the police service in his tweet, Nazim clarified to them that a 'wall' fan does not neccessarily have to fan the wall.
Since his incarceration, Solih was brought for his remand hearing on the 19th of March Monday where he was issued a remand of 9 days following which his lawyer stated that the MP had been remanded on the assumption that he might attempt to destroy evidence or possibly become a threat to national security.
While Solih is a long-standing parliment member, he is also a prominent leader of the Joint Opposition parties.
Reports had surfaced earlier regarding his mistreatment in prison, where his family had approached the police with a medicine he requires for a permanent illness, they had expressed their discontent when it had not reached Solih even after 12 hours.
