Former President Mohamed Nasheed has contested the validity of authorities remanding and summoning detainees apprehended under the state of emergency.
In a post on his Twitter account, Nasheed said that authorities have no legal basis to summon said detainees.
President Yameen & #Maldives security forces have no legal justification or rationale to bring SoE detainees, including Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed to the Criminal Court today. This is a mockery of justice. @MNDF_Official and @PoliceMv must refuse to follow unlawful orders.

The Criminal Court has remanded a number of detainees, including detained lawmakers, police officers, and Supreme Court Justice Ali Hameed as well.
Maldives’ ongoing state of emergency, the validity of which has been questioned as well, is to expire this Thursday.
