Government announces projects to build housing units in nine islands
The government is looking to construct 800 housing units in these nine islands
The deadline to make securities payment has been set from 21st March to 19th April
The government has announced that it will work on 522 projects under PSIP

The Finance Ministry has revealed projects to construct housing units in nine different islands and opened for interested parties to submit proposals.

The government is looking to construct housing units in Eydhafushi island of Baa Atoll, Kudahuvadhoo and Meedhoo islands of Dhaa Atoll, Gan in Laamu Atoll, Hinnavaru and Naifaru islands in Lhaviyani Atoll, Maduvvari of Raa Atoll. Komandhoo island of Shaviyani Atoll and Feydhoo of Addu City.

The Finance Ministry statement on the matter also reveals that 800 housing units will be constructed in total in the aforesaid islands.

  • Eydhafushi island of Baa Atoll -  100 units
  • Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaa Atoll - 50 units
  • Meedhoo island of Dhaa Atoll – 50 units
  • Gan in Laamu Atoll - 200 units
  • Hinnavaru island of Lhaviyani Atoll – 100 units
  • Naifaru islands in Lhaviyani Atoll – 100 units
  • Maduvvari of Raa Atoll - 50 units
  • Komandhoo island of Shaviyani Atoll - 50 units
  • Feydhoo of Addu City - 100 units

Parties constructing in islands that require 50 units have to pay securities of MVR 200,000 while islands those constructing in islands that require 100 units have to 400,000.

Parties constructing in Gan of Laamu Atoll, which requires 200 units, have to pay double the latter amount, a total of MVR 800,000.

The deadline to make said payments has been set from 21st March to 19th April. The government has announced that it will work on 522 projects under PSIP (Public Sector Investment Programs) in 2018.

While up to 430 of these are projects that have been underway from previous years, the government will set off 92 new projects and is expected to spend over MVR 5.4 billion.
