Ibrahim Solih was arrested at Friday night’s protest under the state of emergency decree and is still in Dhoonidhoo island’s prison.
Numerous MPs have been arrested at the protests calling on authorities to implement the Supreme Court order on February 1 to release political prisoners and reinstate opposition MPs.
Pro-government Speaker Abdulla Maseeh has also been obstructing lawmakers at the sittings. Speaker Maseeh has ignored the impeachment motion against him and have been using the military to retain his seat.
