Authorities sign agreement establishing 'Environment Police' service
The environment police service will tackle matters as illegal transfer of waste and garbage as well as littering
Acting Commissioner Nawaz said that similar environment police units will be established in other cities

The governmnet, the police, and the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has on Sunday signed a joint agrement establishing the ‘environment police’ service.

Signatories of the agreement are Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, acting police commissioner Abdulla Nawaz, and WAMCO Manging Director Mohamed Shifau.

Environment Minister Thoriq says he hopes the environment police service will deter matters as illegal transfer of waste and garbage as well as littering.

Acting Commissioner Nawaz said that similar environment police units will be established in other cities and the outlying islands as well.
