A few Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) activists and former parliament member for Kendikulhudhoo constituency Ahmed Eesa have been arrested.
RaajjeMV has received information that about 8 or so police officers had arrived at Eesa's residence and arrested him in the early hours of Thursday evening.
It is not yet clear whether Eesa was arrested under the state of emergency decree or a different conviction.
Along with Eesa, opposition MDP's activist Pappi and Simon were also taken into police custody on Thursday and likewise, a reason for their arrest has not been stated.
Following their arrest, elected President for opposition MDP's youth wing Meekail Naseem broke the story on twitter, saying that President Yameen's witch-hunt continues.

While prominent lawyers are claiming that the sum of individuals who are being arrested under the state of emergency decree and detained in Dhoonidhoo island's detention center is well above 50, controversies have risen on the squalid conditions under which detainees are being kept in, including not being provided the simplest amenity, clean drinking water.
