Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has called on leaders of the state to fearlessly defend the constitution.
In a press release issued on Friday, MDP said that all parties can agree that the current state of the country "is not the best" for it. It called for all state institutions to work within the laws, to protect the constitutional rights and to be dutiful to them.
Noting that issuing unlawful orders and obeying them is clearly a violation of the constitution, it called on all state bodies and their employees to refrain from going against the constitution.
It called on to help in maintaining freedom and protecting the rights and the safety of the citizens by following the rightful ways, as stated under the constitution.
