Prominent lawyer and former deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem has been suspended again.
The Department of Judicial Administration announced his suspension on Thursday, over an ongoing police investigation against him.
He is part of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's legal team.
While RaajjeMV was unable to get a comment from Shameem at the time of publishing, he had earlier in the day tweeted that Gayoom had told him that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) "tried to question him in relation to some issue dating back to 2007" He added that the ACC "must realise that my client is entitled to be questioned in the presence of his attorney".
My client @maumoonagayoom told me that @ACC_Maldives tried to question him in relation to some issue dating back to 2007. ACC must realise that my client is entitled to be questioned in the presence of his attorney. Worrying to know ACC don't read CPC.

The DJA revoked his suspension in January, after being suspended in 2015, as he was being reviewed for allegedly having criticized or defamed Judges and Court.
Shameem was summoned to the police for questioning last week, for allegedly having given ‘false statements’ at a press conference on February 13.
