Yet to make decision on whether to attend tonight's parliament sitting, or not: MP Solih
The start of parliament sessions was delayed due to security reasons

While the first session of the parliament is set for tonight, against regulations, aldivian democratic party (MDP)'s parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih "Ibu" said that the Joint Opposition will make a decision today, on attending the sesssion.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, Ibu confirmed that the opposition had previously decided against taking part in the first parliament sitting of the year, which was scheduled for 5th February. He added that they are currently deliberating on the matter.

The opposition had decided to boycott the first parliament session of the year as 12 opposition members were being barred from entering the parliament premises. Despite the Supreme Court ruling, on February 1, to resinstate the 12 members, the military continued to bar them from entering the premises. It also ordered the release of nine high-profile prisoners.

However, President Abdulla Yameen refused to implement the ruling, and instead declared a state of emergency on the 5th of February. An extraordinary parliament session was held on Monday and Tuesday, without the consitutionally required quorum of 43 members.

While parliament is scheduled to begin tonight, according to parliamentary regulations, sessions session must begin on either the first Monday or Thursday of February. However, it was delayed due to security reasons.
