Government officials searched and confiscated liquor at Villa resorts in January

Police have arrived at some resorts owned by opposition Jumhoree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim.

RaajjeMV understands that a large police team is active at Paradise Island Resort for undisclosed reasons.

In January, government officials searched resorts owned by Qasim’s company Villa Group, and confiscated its liquor. However, the tourism ministry allowed the resorts to run for a 14-day period.

At the time, the government alleged the resorts of importing liquor without a license.

The government has declared a state of emergency for 15 days.
