A minor has been arrested over the stabbing of an individual under state care.
A 23-year-old was stabbed on 3rd January while under the care of the National Drug Agency (NDA), as he was being transferred to the Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Himmafushi island.
Police on Friday said that a 15-year-old has been arrested over a stabbing that took place near the National Drug Agency, and that the Criminal Court has issued him a seven-day remand. Police did not reveal any further information on the matter.
When RaajjeMV had previously inquired whether the victim had been under state care, police had said that this was not clear.
While RaajjeMV understands that the victim had sought treatment for addiction on his own, his family claims that he had informed NDA officials of a possible attack. However, NDA denied any knowledge of the attack to RaajjeMV, with its director Ali Shareef saying that they had not been informed of any such thing.
