Foreign Minister Dr. Mohamed Asim has departed to Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
According to the Ministry, Asim departed to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to attend the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The meeting is to be held on Sunday, convening urgently on the request of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Ministers are to “discuss the ongoing situation in Yemen and in particular, the ballistic missile that was launched by the Houthi rebels towards Riyadh on 19 December 2017”.
"Minister Asim is due to address the Council of Foreign Ministers on 21 Jan," said the Ministry.

He is accompanied by Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia Abdulla Hameed, Additional Secretary at the Foreign Ministry Javed Faizal and Shahiya Ali Manik, Director at the Ministry.
The minister will head to New York after concluding his trip to Saudi Arabia on January 21st.
