Police raid and seizure of commodities is an attempt to 'destroy' business': Paradise Island Resort
The resort manager said that it is a tactic to intimidate the opposition
Police had searched the Paradise Island Resort, Fun Island, Island Holidays, Royal Island, and Sun Island
Manager Fathuhee further said that the purpose of the action was not to halt any potential illegal activity

The government has an ongoing agenda to destroy business operated by opposition leader Qasim Ibrahim, the Paradise Island Resort’s manager Abdulla Fathuhee said.

On Thursday night, when officers of the police were attempting to confiscate some of the pork and alcoholic beverages from some of the resorts, Fathuhee said that this would pose irreversible damage to both its reputation and earnings.

Fathuhee said that while the police’s search had been authorized by a court order, the manner in which it was carried out was inappropriate and a source of insecurity and fear for the ‘700’ guests at Paradise Island at the time.

He further said that the purpose of the action was not to seize any potential illegal activity but to create an excuse to threaten and intimidate a legitimate business for the ideologies of its founder and owner.

Police had searched the Paradise Island Resort, Fun Island, Island Holidays, and Sun Island on allegations that they were using alcoholic beverages and pork brought in from Royal Island Resort, which was also searched.
