Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has questioned the intention behind probing resorts owned by Qasim Ibrahim.

The tweet came after news broke out that authorities had launched a probe on resorts owned by opposition aligned Jumhooree Party (JP) Leader Qasim Ibrahim.

In his tweet, President Maumoon noted that Maldives was home to 127 resorts, 14 tourist hotels, 450 tourist guesthouses and 130 tourist safaris. Given the sudden and arbitrary nature of the probe, President Maumoon refuted the government’s claims that all were treated fairly.
