The individual arrested in connection to the rape in capital Male' City has been remanded for 15 days.

The case was first filed in Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Wednesday. The individual was arrested on Saturday. 

MPS had confirmed the remand hearings. However, Police had refrained from divulging the identity of the suspect. 

RaajjeMV understands that the individual is Hassan Faaiz (33). 

The victim was allegedly raped after she went to an art studio for a project last Wednesday, and was given money to remain quiet, reported some news outlets.

She reportedly gave a detailed description of the assault, and police have taken samples from her body.
