Maldives Pres. shoots down possibility of talks, says they are a waste of time
Used short cuts for cabinet meetings
Denied claims that he was cruel, detaining anyone without verdict
Any gains are legal, ethical

President Abdullah Yameen has stated that discussions on issues pertinent to citizens, was a waste of time and that he would not do that.

Speaking from Eydhafushi island Baa atoll, President Yameen said the opposition had always accused him of heavy handedness in his way of conducting affairs of the state. However, he said that he had worked in the Parliament and senior Government positions and was well versed in discussion.

In this vein, the President said that he did not see a point in discussing trivial matters and instances where the outcomes were clear, as it took up too much time.

He went on to claim that he had taken ‘short cuts’ when critical issues needed to be discussed at Cabinet level. As such he noted that he had split the cabinet into two to facilitate speedier decisions.

President Yameen had also responded to the allegations of cruelty made against him, stating that these were to contrary. He also refuted claims that no individual was in jail without a verdict.

He asserted that his administration will honor and respect the verdicts issued by the courts. President Yameen further said that neither he nor his administration will seek to influence the judiciary. Any preconditions to that nature, he warned would mean that any potential discussions are null.

He also addressed the claims of wealth gained illegally during his tenure, stating that all he had was obtained legally and ethically.

Yameen is reaping all what he has sown years back in Majlis and under his elder brother's regime. He has all support from the Judiciary, the Police and Military Establishment. With Majlis, the Parliament members bent to knees, Civil service in his grips, Atoll and Island Council members tamed, he's all amok and using more "street urchin Jargon" than sound talk from leaders of his counterparts elsewhere in the World. It is prudent if the forthcoming Indian high level delegation take note of all his political statements to verify with a psychologist to make sure he's not insane! Members of Indian Ocean Community will live happier and in peace without him in Maldives presidency!!!
