Former President Mohamed Nasheed took to social media on Monday, to express his condolences over the passing of Bollywood legend Shashi Kapoor.
Nasheed, via twitter, sent the 'deepest condolences' from him and his wife, former First Lady Laila Ali, to Kapoor's family.

The veteran actor and producer passed away on Monday, at the age of 79, at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after being admitted there for a chest infection. He had been ill for some time.
Shashi Kapoor is the youngest son of the late Prithviraj Kapoor and is a member of the 'Kapoor dynasty,' which has dominated the Bollywood film industry for decades. He had won several national awards. The Indian government awarded him the Padma Bhushan civilian honour in 2011, and the Dadasahed Phalke Award in 2015.
While Kapoor had acted in huge hits like 'Deewar', 'Silsila' and 'Kabhie Kabhie', he can also be seen in a number of British and American movies.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his grief via twitter, with a message that read, "Shashi Kapoor's versatility could be seen in his movies as well as in theatre, which he promoted with great passion. His brilliant acting will be remembered for generations to come. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers".
