Russian Ambassador with President Abdullah Yameen
The new Ambassador of Russia to the Maldives presented his credentials to President Abdullah Yameen.
Credentials were presented in a ceremony held in President’s Office on Thursday.
The new Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Maldives, Yuri B. Materiy was warmly welcomed by President Yameen.
‘Noting that this year marks the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Russia, the President emphasized that the Maldives attaches high importance to its relations with Russia,’ President’s Office said.
President Yameen expressed his hopes for working closely with the new Ambassador and Russia, for the common benefit of both countries and their peoples.
Ambassador Materiy conveyed assurances to the President of his full support and commitment to further strengthen existing ties between the Maldives and Russia.
The President was accompanied at the call by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim, and the Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, Mr. Mohamed Naseer.
