Opposition MPs have boycotted Wednesday’s sitting of the Parliament.

On Wednesday, the Parliament deliberated on the supplementary budget of MVR 493 million.

The supplementary budget for this year was proposed on Tuesday by Finance Minister Ahmed Munawwar.

Only pro-Government MPs attended the sitting where they had taken to criticized opposition MPs, as well as taking turns to praise the President. Each MP was given seven minutes to debate on the budget.

Out of the MVR 493 million proposed as supplementary budget, MVR 330 million had been allotted to NSPA and Aasandha. MVR 26 million had been set aside to conduct byelections for seven Constituencies.

Even though opposition MPs had taken to boycotting the supplementary budget, it is expected that pro-Government MPs will pass the budget. The bill need the majority of the votes MPs cast to pass.
