Bileyfahi Island Council President Abdullah Ziyad says that a temporary solution for the island’s power outage has been provided by Sunday night.

Power was restored temporarily just after midnight on Sunday; power was first provided to residences and government offices. No issues had been reported since then, said Ziyad.

The entire island had ground to a standstill following the power outage that occurred after the fire in the power house late on Saturday. No injuries were reported in the fire.

Ziyad added the fire had started in the turbo of the 112-kilowatt generator.

The population of the island is 700 people.
