Security provided to Criminal Court Judge Ahmed Rasheed has been slashed.

RaajjeMV understands that the security provided to the Judge was slashed last week.

The news comes following the suspension of the Judge. The Judge was suspended on August 23^rd citing that he was under review by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

JSC had confirmed that the Judge was under review and that he was summoned to the Commission on August 23^rd. The Commission also said that evidence against Judge Rasheed was given by staff and Judges of the Court and therefore, if he was allowed to carry on with his duties, evidence tampering and witness intimidation was a possibility. Therefore, based on these, the Judge was suspended until the conclusion of investigation on him.

Judge Rasheed is the second Judge for whom security had been slashed. Former senior Judge at Criminal Court Abdul Baaree Yoosuf had his security privileges as well.

When questioned, Maldives Police Service (MPS) reported details of VIP security cannot be released to public.
