MMC launches probe against RaajjeTV's Fazeen, gives 20 days to respond
A complaint was made against an article published on raajje.mv under Fazeen's name on April 20
MMC sent a letter to Fazeen on August 10, asking him to respond to allegations before August 30
The controversial defamation law, implemented in 2016, authorizes MMC to take action against print and online media

A complaint has been filed against RaajjeTV journalist Mohamed Fazeen at the Maldives Media Council (MMC) over an article published on raajje.mv.

A letter sent to Fazeen from the Council on August 10 highlighted that Fazeen has 20 days to respond to the allegations, and is to send his response before the 30th of August.

MMC's letter noted that a complaint regarding his report "Information Commissionerah dhen sitee'eh fonuveynetha?" (which translates to "Can we send a letter to the Information Commissioner now?") was filed at the Council on April 20.

The controversial defamation law, implemented in 2016, authorizes the 15-member Maldives Media Council- comprised of eight members from media organizations and seven from the public- to take action against print and online media.
