Mohamed Zaki, who served the state for more than 47 years, has passed away.
Aged 68 at the time of his death, Zaki passed away some time on Sunday.
He was a recipient of the National Award for Public Service, back in 2023.
Zaki was recognized for his service for the state spanning the course of 47 years.
Having begun his service to the state on 3 March 1973, Zaki retired on 28 October 2020 at the age of 65.
At the time of his retirement, he had been serving as a Senior Printing Supervisor at the Department of Public Examinations.
His decades-long public service began as a foreman at the CI Division of the Ministry of Agriculture. Afterwards, he filled the positions of a peon at the Ministry of Education as well as the Educational Project Office.
Other positions he filled include printer at the Educational Development Center as well as a senior printer.
Zaki also worked as a printing assistant at the center, and senior printer of the printing department at the center.
He went on to serve the positions of senior printer and printing supervisor at the Department of Public Examinations.
During his extensive career, Zaki used to carry out the work of delivering international examinations conducted by the department such as GCE O’Levels papers to exam halls. He was also involved in printing, collecting, stapling and packing higher secondary school certificate examination papers.
Zaki also carried out the work of typing secondary school certificate examinations and higher secondary school certificate examinations with diligence and honesty.
Zaki was also actively involved in the trips required to deliver examination papers by the Department of Public Examinations’ O’Level and A’Level centers across the island nation.
Zaki was laid to rest on Monday.
Following his death, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu sent a message of condolences to his family via social media platform ‘X’.
