Ahmed Hafiz, who served the state for over 33 years, has passed away.
Hafiz was 62 at the time of passing.
He succumbed to a long battle with cancer, on Wednesday, while seeking treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
Hafiz began his services to the state on 30 May 1981 and he continued serving for 33 long years.
He had served as a Minister of State at the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation alongside several other high-ranking position in multiple government ministries.
The late Ahmed Hafiz was awarded the Public Service Award of Recognition back in 1991, for his contributions to the fisheries sector.
Hafiz was laid to rest at Hulhumalé Cemetery after Isha prayer on Wednesday. The funeral prayer was held at the Hulhumalé Cemetery Mosque.
