The National Cyber Security Agency has been established.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu established the National Cyber Security Agency on Monday.
The agency, constituted under the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, was established to provide a platform that serves as a focal point for all issues linked to the cyber security of the island nation as well as residents, on a national scale.
President Muizzu established the agency under the powers vested to him under Article 116 of the Constitution of Maldives.
The directive issued by the President’s Office reads that all correspondence addressed to the agency will be required to use the number 500, in accordance with the numbering system for state agencies.
Constituted in an aim to establish national cyber security policies and standards and support the growth of cyber defence capabilities of government institutions, the agency will work at the national level to obtain required instruments and resources to improve the cybersecurity capabilities of the Maldives.
