Muizzu spoke to residents of Meedhoo island of Raa atoll as part of his ongoing tour

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has shared his administration’s development vision for Meedhoo island of Raa atoll.

This was done during a meeting he held with residents of the island on Saturday.

As such, taking the podium at the event the president assured that his highest priority is to ensure the self-sufficiency of island communities which would in turn pave the path for them to achieve their full potential.

Highlighting that he aspires for “every” citizen to prosper and attain wealth during his five-year presidential term, the president stated that he remains committed to ensure the well-being of citizens, through stable incomes, wealth, housing security, social fulfilment, successful parenting, and maintaining an independent, sovereign, and self-reliant nation.

Shedding light on his administration's commitment to economic development, Muizzu stated that an uninhabited island would be allocated to each local council.

Muizzu stated that councils could request islands that are not necessarily in close geographical proximity, aligning with their specific economic objectives.

Further, he noted that his administration intends to allocate these islands to the councils for a total of 25 years.

Addressing the island community, the president went on to shed light on his administration's development vision including land reclamation projects, the establishment of a hospital, and the expansion of the island’s harbor personalized to the needs of the community.

Muizzu assured them that his administration remains committed to address the additional needs shared by the island community.
