The Thinadhoo International Airport Development Project has been contracted.
The government of Maldives contracted the project to develop Thinadhoo International Airport on Tuesday.
The ceremony to sign the agreement took place during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the residential community of Thinadhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll on Tuesday, as part of his tour of some islands in the south of Maldives which he began on Sunday morning.
The project to develop the Thinadhoo International Airport was contracted to Pan Pacific Company Limited.
Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib signed the agreement on behalf of the Maldivian government and CEO of Pan Pacific Company Limited Jirat Petnunthawong signed on behalf of the company.
Taking the podium at the event, the president noted that the airport will have a unique design, and that the airport's passenger terminal would be an overwater structure.
He added that the development of the airport would help boost tourism and development across the atoll.
