President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been briefed on the key concerns of the community of Dhiyamigili island of Thaa atoll.

This was done during a meeting held with the council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Dhiyamigili island on Tuesday.

The meeting was held as part of his ongoing three-day tour of some islands of Thaa atoll.

During the meeting held at the secretariat of the Dhiyamigili council, councilors shed light on the requirements and challenges surfacing for the island residents and went on to touch upon the areas that require development on the island.

Dhiyamigili councilors went on to shed light on the need to connect the island with Madifushi via a causeway as well as linking Dhiyamigili and Medhufushi by land reclamation.

Discussions also revolved around incorporating Mathidhoo into the council’s jurisdiction.

The councilors also stressed the need to establish a post of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), establishing an ATM as well as extending the island’s health center.

The meeting also saw the councilors touching upon difficulties faced by residents due to incomplete projects and inadequate spaces at the secretariat.

Members of the island’s WDC shared their concerns with the president as well, particularly regarding financial limitations.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the councilors that he would consult with relevant authorities to provide an agreeable solution to the issues raised by the island resident.

He also pledged to swiftly expedite development projects ongoing on the island including road construction.

The president departed on the tour of islands in Thaa atoll, on Tuesday. His first destination of the trip was Guraidhoo, followed by Dhiyamigili as the second destination and Madifushi as the third destination. His fourth destination was Veymandoo island. A high-level delegation of government officials accompanies the president on the tour of Thaa atoll.
