The seventh annual Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy is to start of August 7.

The event is to be held from August 7 to 13.

A total of six surfers will compete for the trophy, including local star and three-time national champ, Ismail "Kuda Issay" Miglal. Miglal, who has been surfing for over 25 years- has also won a number of international competitions.

"It is an honour and a privilege to surf our local waves with this line up of legends. Thank you for the opportunity," said Miglal.

Other competitors include USA's Rob Machado and CJ Hobgood, Hawaii's Ross Williams, Brazil's Maya Gabeira and Australia's Taj Barrow, who is last year's defending champion.

The Surfing Championships Trophy, hosted onboard Four Seasons Explorer- determines a surfer's heat time based on age and tests skill across three divisions, single-fin, twin-fin and thruster.

According to the organizers, places are granted by invitation only, to six world champions.
