President Muizzu shed light on the significance of additional training for educators

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has engaged in discussions regarding the potential expansion of short-term training programs for Maldivians seeking higher education in universities of Türkiye.

The discussions were held during a courtesy call paid on the Maldivian leader by the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye Yusuf Tekin on Tuesday.

The meeting was held at the Presidential Guesthouse in Ankara.

Acknowledging the close bilateral ties enjoyed between the two countries, the Turkish Minister of National Education spoke on future collaborations with the government of Maldives in the higher education sector.

During the meeting, President Muizzu stated that Maldivians see Türkiye as an excellent avenue for affordable and high-quality higher education.

The Maldivian leader discussed the potential expansion of short-term training programs and scholarships for Maldivian students pursuing higher education in Turkish universities.

Further, he shed light on the significance of additional training for educators, particularly for those interacting with students with complex learning requirements and unique needs.

President Muizzu stated that the government of Maldives was seeking to increase training in key areas including earth sciences, medicine, childcare, therapy as well as rehabilitation.

President Muizzu and the Turkish minister reiterated their commitment to further strengthen the long-standing friendship between Maldives and Türkiye.

The Maldivian leader headed to Turkey with his spouse, Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level delegation of Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials on November 26 and concluded the trip on November 29.
