Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom says that even if Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) removes four MPs from the Party, they will not lose their seats. He said the latest ruling issued by Supreme Court guarantees this.

Speaking to press, following the meeting held in Maafannu Kunooz, President Maumoon made the statement in reference to the claims made by President Abdullah Yameen’s faction that the MPs have now effectively lost their Parliament seats.

President Maumoon said that even though MPs were booted from the Party, the Supreme Court ruling ensures that they will not lose their seats. He stressed that no party is above the Supreme Court ruling and even PPM must adhere to that.
