Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed says that President Abdullah Yameen had accepted defeat.
He made the statement in a tweet posted on Wednesday.
Dr. Jameel said President Yameen had admitted to many mistakes, adding that what must be investigated was clear to the next administrations.
He reiterated his calls for President Yameen to step down in light of changes to the political sphere. He accused the current administration of harnessing the judiciary in order to remain in power.
In the event held on Tuesday to welcome in Deputy Speaker Moosa Manik to PPM, President Yameen said the opposition could garner enough votes to impeach both him and Speaker Abdullah Maseeh. He had also denied any wrong doing on his part.
