President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stressed on the importance of integrating environmental conservation into the daily routines of the people.

The Maldivian leader made this remark in a statement delivered to commemorate World Environment Day.

In his message, the president stressed on the significance of integrating environmental conservation and protection into the daily lives of people, in light of the current global and circumstances surrounding the environment.

President Solih stressed that the global environment and natural ecosystems are often impacted by human actions.

He added that the natural environment and ecological systems are facing unprecedented levels of degradation at present.

Expressing concern regarding the escalating threats and damages to natural environment and ecological systems, President Solih stressed that these threats intensify with each passing year which in turn poses a significant risk to the survival of humanity.

Further, he went on to shed light on the shared responsibility of individuals in safeguarding the environment from disorder and degradation.

President Solih emphasized the need for a particular focus on plastic products due to their looming threat on the environment, affecting both the global community and the Maldives.

With this, the President urged the public to take a proactive stance by ending the use of plastic products harmful to the environment.

Individuals of all age groups, from young to the elderly, have been urged to avoid the use of plastic and embrace sustainable alternatives.
