Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has met with his Indian counterpart, the Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. Subramanyam Jaishankar.

He met with the Indian Minister on Friday.

During the meeting, both Ministers addressed ways to strengthen the two countries' strong ties of friendship and collaboration.

Minister Shahid also expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its continuous support for the Maldives, emphasizing on the necessity for regular consultations between the two countries.

Minister Jaishankar further thanked the Maldives government and noted the effective economic cooperation and progress of projects being completed under Indian grant assistance and line of credit initiatives.

At the discussion, Minister Shahid and Minister Jaishankar reaffirmed their countries' resolve to continue working closely together on areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and in international fora.

Minister Abdulla Shahid is on a three-day Official Visit to India, to attend the 8th edition of the Raisina Dialogue organized by the Observer Research Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
