Police make arrests in drug operations on three islands

Officers had apprehended an individual who had attempted to smuggle a number of mobile phones and narcotic substances into the prison on Maafushi island

A 30-year-old man was arrested attempting to smuggle phones into Maafushi island

The Maldives Police Service had on Friday announced that officers made arrests in separate drug operations in three islands.

Officers had apprehended an individual who had attempted to smuggle a number of mobile phones and narcotic substances into the prison on Maafushi island. The 30-year-old was arrested on Friday and is in police custody.

Police had also arrested a man Nilandhoo island of Shaviyani atoll.

Officers had then collected 319 rubber packets of what they believe to contain narcotics from eastern shore in Guraidhoo island of Kaafu atoll.
