First Lady Fazna Ahmed has attended the official ceremony held to mark the International Day for Older Persons.
FL Fazna departed to Fuvahmulah City to attend the festivities of the day on Wednesday.
She attended the ceremony held at the Hafiz Ahmed School on Thursday.
The ceremony was conducted in Fuvahmulah City’s native dialect and saw a series of information sessions held.
Prior to this, breakfast was served to the attendees.
Information was provided to the special invitees, guests and senior citizens who attended the ceremony, regarding nutritional requirements for senior citizens, mental health, fraud prevention as well as financial well-being for elderly persons.
Takeuchi Midori, Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives attended the event.
This year’s International Day for Older Persons revolves around the theme “Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World”.
As part of the trip, FL Fazna will also attend the final match and awards ceremony of the Ground Golf Tournament held to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons.
She will return to Malé City on Saturday, after concluding the trip.
