From Ismail Umar's funeral on Saturday, 17th June

Ismail Umar, who was found brutally murdered inside an ice plant on Ihavandhoo island of Haa Alifu atoll, has been buried on Saturday.

The police handed over the body to Ismail’s family, who were present at the funeral, on Saturday morning.

Police found the 54-year-old's body on Friday, reportedly at around 4:15 pm. Two police forensic teams had arrived in the island on Friday.

RaajjeMV understands that Ismail, native to Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani atoll, was the ice plant's mechanic and is charged with its overall maintenance.

The police are investigating the case and has thus far arrested five individuals in relation to the murder.
